About Sea_Washed
Sea_Washed was born on a sunlit afternoon in the Cornish seaside village of Gwithian, fresh from a mid-morning surf and with a shared desire to live — and dress — with greater intention. After years working as product developers for well-known fashion brands in London, we had seen first-hand how greenwashing and fast fashion dominate the industry. Disenchanted by the prioritisation of profit over planet, we set out to create something different: a luxury surf lifestyle brand for men and women with sustainability at its core.
Inspired by our deep connection to the ocean, Sea_Washed reflects the feeling of riding a perfect wave or the clarity that follows an early-morning sea swim. Our name speaks to this relationship — shaped by saltwater, surf culture and a respect for nature.
From the outset, our mission was clear: to design premium, timeless clothing with minimal environmental impact and a morally responsible soul. The journey was not simple. Shortly after the idea for Sea_Washed took shape, the Covid-19 pandemic brought the world to a standstill. What initially felt like a setback became an opportunity to go deeper. With global supply chains paused, factory owners and garment technologists around the world had time to collaborate, helping us refine our approach to sustainable materials, ethical production and circular design.
We have always been acutely aware of plastic pollution in our seas, having witnessed it first-hand. At the same time, we understood its potential to be repurposed into high-performance recycled fabrics. Sustainable swimwear became a natural focus. By transforming existing waste into durable, long-lasting products, we reduce reliance on virgin materials and help remove plastic from the ocean. Textile reuse and recycling can save up to 98% CO₂ emissions compared to producing new fibres.
Our luxury swimwear is made from base fabrics containing 82% recycled fibres and is deliberately limited to a maximum of two components, allowing for easier separation and recycling at the end of its life. All Sea_Washed swimsuits are fully reversible, reducing energy consumption in production while offering double the wear and value.
For our on-shore collection — including T-shirts and sweaters — we chose to work exclusively with organic, plant-based materials. Organic cotton is less environmentally damaging to grow, free from harmful chemicals and fully biodegradable when left unblended. That’s why our garments are made from 100% pure organic cotton and are certified by GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard), the globally recognised benchmark for responsibly produced organic clothing.
Sea_Washed launched its first limited-edition collection of organic cotton T-shirts through a select group of independent retailers in 2025, before opening our dedicated online store. Today, our collections remain intentionally small and carefully considered.
As a slow fashion brand, Sea_Washed is not seasonal or trend-led. We produce limited runs to avoid overproduction and excess waste. If an item is unavailable, our customer care team offers a waiting list service and can help locate styles through one of our retail partners.
We believe in quality over quantity and are proud to be a small, self-funded brand driven by purpose rather than volume. Every purchase from Sea_Washed supports sustainable fashion, responsible manufacturing and a deeper respect for the ocean that inspires us. We’re grateful to have you along for the journey.
